The amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) fires a MK-46 Gun Weapon System and .50 Caliber Machine Gun during a live-fire exercise.

The MK 46 Gun Weapon System is a navalized version of the Mk44 Bushmaster II chain gun. It is a remotely operated naval gun system that uses a 30mm high velocity cannon, a forward looking infrared sensor, a low light television camera and a laser rangefinder for shipboard self defense against small, high speed surface targets. The gun can be operated locally at the gun turret or remotely at the remote operating console in the Combat Information Center.

USS Green Bay, part of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
