As a first new carrier design in 40 years since USS Nimitz (CVN 68), USS Gerald R. Ford incorporates completely redesigned and rearranged flight deck that will allow aircraft missions to take off and land 25 percent faster. USS Ford is currently underway conducting testing and evaluation operations.
